BDLI: Bringing space closer
Challenge and Concept
At ILA Berlin, the Space Pavilion was designed to offer 150,000 visitors a fascinating experience while showcasing the role and relevance of space exploration for our daily lives, our planet, and our economy. The goal was to engage the public, media, and policymakers alike, highlighting the significance of space as a driver of innovation and societal progress.
The challenge: To unify the messages and perspectives of a diverse consortium from Germany and Europe into a coherent and inspiring narrative.
Our solution: An edutainment concept centered around the storyline "Viewing Earth from Space," demonstrating the connections between space exploration and global challenges like the environment, technology, and the economy in an engaging and impactful way.
Development
The central element of our narrative, the "Tree of Life," was surrounded by space capsules presenting the main themes of space exploration. Interactive exhibits made "Space for Earth" a hands-on experience. Multimedia applications and printed fabric elements created an immersive atmosphere. Visitor flows were strategically guided, ensuring an experience that was both impressive and functional.
Implementation
In June 2016, the Space Pavilion debuted at ILA Berlin. Its monumental design and the seamless integration of societal and technological themes made it a flagship project, effectively raising awareness of the role of space exploration in our daily lives and the future of our planet.
