MTU Aero Engines: Flying green with Hydrogen
Challenge and Concept
MTU Aero Engines is actively committed to almost emissions-free flying and aimed to present its Flying Fuel Cell™ (FFC) Concept as a key milestone at ILA Berlin 2022. The challenge was to convey the complex chemical and physical processes behind this innovative propulsion technology in a way that is both comprehensible and engaging for media representatives, political decision-makers, and industry experts.
Our solution: an interactive exhibit that combines precise didactics with cutting-edge technology. A transparent OLED touchscreen paired with digital content in front of a printed 3D model vividly explains the FFC’s functionality, advantages, and MTU’s contribution to the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Development
The concept seamlessly integrates visual and interactive elements:
Implementation
Our integrated approach was key to success: editorial content was transformed into precise and visually appealing elements. The motion design was meticulously calibrated to the technology (resolution, contrast values) and the 3D model (parallax effect). Collaboration across the creative, technical, and construction teams ensured a seamless execution.
The result is an exhibit that sparks curiosity from afar, provides engaging yet scientifically accurate information, and never feels monotonous. It strikes a fine balance between fascination and persuasion, creating enduring brand connections.
Not only does the exhibit make the Flying Fuel Cell’s functionality comprehensible at ILA, but it has also quickly established itself as a flexible communication tool for trade shows and events worldwide.
