Challenge and Concept

The task: MAN Energy Solutions wanted to showcase the advanced but concealed technologies of an impressive system, which was only partially available on-site. While the 4.7-meter-long engine was physically present, the generator—an equally critical component—could not be transported and required digital visualization.

Our solution: An interactive exhibit featuring an innovative "X-Ray Slider," seamlessly blending motion design with intuitive UI/UX technology. A real eye-catcher, this tool dynamically transitioned between detailed "X-Ray" views of the engine's mechanics and a digital illustration of the generator, effectively presenting both system components in an engaging and comprehensible way—a captivating experience for visitors and a valuable sales tool for MAN Energy Solutions.

Development

Starting with a detailed storyboard, we designed the interface, optimized the user experience, and integrated images, videos, and text. The creative visualization of the unavailable generator was a unique challenge, elegantly resolved through reactive motion design.

Implementation

The VRPE workshop worked at full capacity: electronics, programming, and the integration of the 9-ton engine were perfectly synchronized. After a seamless test setup and transport to Australia, MAN Energy Solutions received a fully functional "plug & play" exhibit—and was thoroughly impressed.

The combination of smooth zooming, sliding movements, and digital interactivity made the technology visible and perfectly understandable, impressing both visitors and sales teams alike. MAN was so enthusiastic about the outcome that they transitioned from a rental model to a purchase—a complete success.
