Airbus: FCAS Battle Management with demonstration of future defence concepts
Challenge and concept
At ILA 2024 in Berlin, Airbus set out to launch the next phase of FCAS communication. The goal was to demonstrate that the system is advancing with clear milestones and that futuristic military concepts are not only real and secure but are already making a positive impact on European security today.
Our solution: a modern simulation and demonstration room in which high-ranking players from the military, politics and business can interactively explore realistic scenarios. The approach combines cutting-edge architecture and ergonomics with well-structured didactic tools to convey FCAS's complex concepts effectively.
Development
The challenge was to make highly complex military systems and interconnected actors, including AI, accessible and comprehensible. Our task force, comprising Airbus experts and VRPE specialists, developed an immersive concept:
Implementation
The centrepiece of the simulation is a five-metre-long interactive table that is controlled via a transparent puck and enables intuitive navigation through the scenariosArchitecture, dynamic lighting, and motion design enhance the immersive experience, while live demos showcase the sophistication and reliability of FCAS operational concepts. The handover to FCAS is accompanied by extensive training and briefings.
The result: a room that outgrows expectations and brings progress and innovation to life, positioning Airbus as a driving force for Europe's security.
