Airbus: ITC – Showroom Friedrichshafen
Challenge and Concept
Airbus has established Europe’s most advanced satellite integration center on the shores of Lake Constance. A visitor center was to seamlessly blend into this architecturally and technically sophisticated environment. Our task: To communicate the site’s significance for space exploration and create a space for special events such as receptions or live broadcasts of rocket launches.
Our concept combines emotional scenography and structured storytelling to make the Airbus brand and vision tangible. Very window bays offer captivating views into the cleanroom, while the architecture draws direct inspiration from astronomy.
Development
We collaborated closely with the building architects and all Airbus teams. Three interactive cluster tables guide visitors from Earth’s orbit to the solar system and into the infinite reaches of the universe. Precise design, multimedia content, and intuitive user interfaces create a high-quality educational experience that makes space exploration accessible to everyone.
Implementation
On February 22, 2019, the ITC opened its doors, with the showroom as its stunning centerpiece. The project reflects Airbus’s commitment to perfection, complemented by an artistic light installation in the 13-meter-high stairwell that immerses visitors in the world of space exploration.
